We do all that by working together internally as a team, starting with our senior leadership. Here’s an overview of our Alacura leadership team and Board of Directors, all of whom are respected healthcare industry leaders bringing a depth and breadth of experience to their leadership roles with Alacura.
Allison brings a wealth of emergency medical expertise to the Alacura team. Prior to joining Alacura, Allison served as the Director of Quality Management for Angel MedFlight where she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the organization’s Quality Program. Her efforts resulted in the successful accreditation of Angel MedFlight by the National Accreditation Alliance for Medical Transport Applicants (NAAMTA). Prior to Angel MedFlight, Allison served as Quality and Process Improvement Specialist for Banner University Medical Center. She holds dual baccalaureate degrees in Sociology and Nursing from the Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Health Sector Management from the WP Carey School of Business.
Brian Karr is an experienced financial executive with expertise in early-stage, fast-growth, and publicly traded healthcare companies, including multi-state air medical services. During his career, Brian has overseen more than $500 million in strategic acquisitions and securities transactions including IPO and debt financings. Most recently, Brian served as Principal Accounting Officer at Welltok, Inc., a private-equity backed healthcare technology firm. Brian also served as the Chief Financial Officer for private-equity backed REACH Air Medical Services, an emergent air medical services company that operated in 18 bases across three states. REACH Air Medical Services was acquired by American Medical Group Holdings. Brian also served as Divisional Chief Financial Officer for Magellan Health Services of Arizona, where he led strategic planning, operational financial management, and cost of care initiatives to improve the margin and governance processes for Magellan’s $700 million+ contract with the State of Arizona. Brian was also the founding Chief Financial Officer for a private-equity backed SaaS healthcare company, The TriZetto Group. TriZetto initiated an IPO and was later acquired by Cognizant. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for RI International, a multi-state and international behavioral health services company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Brian earned his BS in Business with an Accounting emphasis from Biola University and his CPA while working for Ernst & Young following graduation.
David Boone serves as CEO for Alacura, an air ambulance company based in Dallas, Texas and privately owned by The Vistria Group. In addition to these roles, he is a member of the board of Directors of national Western Life Insurance (NWLI), several private company and non-profit boards and is the lead independent director and Audit Chair of Track Group (TRCK). Prior to Alacura and Angel Med Flight, Boone served as CEO of American CareSource, a NASDAQ traded healthcare services firm, from 2006-2011. He also held executive roles with a variety of publicly traded and start-up organizations including Kraft General Foods, Sears, PepsiCo, Safeway, and Belo Corporation. Boone received his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and his B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois.
Elizabeth brings more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience in management, operations, claims administration, network administration, reimbursement optimization, and systems integration to her role at Alacura. Before joining the Alacura team, Elizabeth served as Vice-President of Operations for Ancillary Care Services, now part of the HealthSmart Healthcare system. Prior to working in the network arena, Elizabeth served in management for multiple providers including: Home Health, DME, and Specialty Pharmacy/Infusion with Visiting Nurse Association and Tenet Healthcare. Elizabeth received her BBA with a Management focus from University of Texas at Arlington.
Semra brings a depth of senior sales, marketing, and management executive experience to her work at Alacura. Prior to joining Alacura, Semra worked with Boston Scientific and DePuy Spine, a Johnson and Johnson company. Additionally, Semra spent 5 years at Biomet, leading new regional growth for Central Missouri. Semra is trained in HIPPA compliance, health insurance models, reimbursement strategies and contract negotiations. She is proficient in OR protocol with over 4,000 hours of operating room experience. In addition to her role at Alacura, Semra serves on the Advisory Board at The Center for BrainHealth in Dallas. She earned her BS in Pre-Medical Studies and BA in English at the University of Arkansas and her MBA from Texas Woman’s University.
